In this module you will gain a practical foundation of knowledge on the importance of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, from conception to toddlerhood, and related considerations for the management of infant nutrition in UK primary care, with particular relevance for GPs, health visitors and other community practitioners.
This module provides a review of:
- Nutrition during pregnancy
- The importance of breastmilk and supporting breastfeeding
- Infant growth and common feeding complications
- Starting solids
After completing this module you will have acquired a practical understanding of the above topics, laying the foundation for in-depth exploration of the management of common infant gastrointestinal complaints, infant food allergy with a focus on cow’s milk allergy and preterm infant nutrition, in modules 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
